Toronto Event Generator Newsletter April 9, 2025
Toronto! The Paris of Ontario!! (Tough luck, Paris, Ontario)
*** TORONTO EVENTS IN TORONTO, YO ((((
Apr 9: Board Games and Beyond [link]
I’m still worried about the “beyond” part.
Apr 10: Cinq à Sept | The Anti-Networking Social [link]
The premise of this is that instead of being a traditional networking event, it is an after-work meetup where people can have drinks and share linkedin profiles with each other. I am for some reason fully sold on this.
Apr 10-13: Wonderverse [link]
Immersive audio-driven sound art things in an airplane hangar.
Apr 12: Cool New Instruments Night! [link]
Apr 12: Pillow Fight Toronto 2025 [link]
Nathan Phillips Square pillow fight! (From the announcement: “Only light featherless pillows are officially allowed, but they're always a couple of rule-breakers, so be careful.” OMG OMG OMG)
Apr 12: Shrek 2 Shout-Along [link]
If you like screaming, ogres, drag, queer choirs, and sequels, this will be a very efficient use of your time.
Apr 13: Astral Codex Ten Meetups Everywhere: Spring 2025 [link]
99% of people in the world have never heard of Scott Alexander, who blogs at Astral Codex Ten. 1% of people follow him with almost cultish devotion (or have gotten over him and think he used to be better). I wish more people knew about Scott. He wrote several of my favorite essays of all time, including I Can Tolerate Anything Except The Outgroup, and personal mind-blower Conflict vs. Mistake, and is an astonishingly great thinker and writer. This is a meetup for readers of Scott’s blog, run by our friend Sean.
Apr 13: RIPEN :: Radical Conversations [link]
Women talk to women about sex.
Apr 14: Board Game Designer Night [link]
Meet local game designers and playtest prototypes.
Apr 15: The Jury Experience: An Immersive Courtroom Case [link]
If you take the day off from work for this they have to pay you.
Apr 15: Curiosity Café: AI and Authenticity [link]
Philosophy cafe at the Madison! This edition about AI
Apr 16: PLAYSPACE: Flow Jam Edition [link]
Workshop with breathing, dancing, arts, and improv games.
Apr 16: Toronto Sacred Harp Monthly Singing [link]
This is the cool new trendy thing.
Apr 17: Fuckup Nights Toronto [link]
Tales of business failure.
Apr 17: Side Project Social [link]
Work on personal projects with others, with optional show and tell.
Apr 18: F*ck the Small Talk #4: Toronto [link]
Competitor to “Get to the point m*therf***er”, and “casual conversation can e** my a**”. These people hate small talk even more than they hate spelling out swears.
Apr 19: Solar Flare [link]
Daytime dance party that starts kid-friendly then becomes adults-only. I went to this with my 9-year old and it was so impactful that my kid turned 10 the next day. We’ll probably be at this one.
Apr 19: Cards & Champagne 2.0 [link]
For $40 you get unlimited food, unlimited drinks, and play games with people. I think this is a promotional event for a game? Can you go and tell me if there is actual Champagne?
Apr 23: Power Point Presentation Party [link]
Create a presentation on an unknown topic in 30 minutes at Danu
Apr 25: Radical Aliveness Community Nights [link]
"Connecting to oneself and to a room full of strangers around broad human themes like ‘impulses’ ‘risk taking’ ‘pleasure’ and ‘freedom’.”
May 1: All About Intimacy [link] (save the date)
I run this series with my friend Sophia, and sometimes Heidi. It’s a series of conversations around love, sex, frienship, and more. It’s great! Ticket not available yet…

About Misha
Hi, I’m Misha! Nice to meet you. I make this newsletter. We started this in September. Around the same time, I also started my own substack. So far the most popular post is one called Stop Pretending Toronto is More Than It Is, which you might like. Or read more about Toronto Event Generator.
I run and host the Trampoline Hall Lecture Series. I co-host All About Intimacy, a conversation event about love, sex, and friendship, and sometimes host a live-band karaoke night at Jean Darlene Piano Room.
In my working life, I help companies foster better human connection - I help teams get better at talking about tough issues, and help organizations run better conferences, workshops, and offsites.
You can find me on twitter, instagram, substack… See you at the next event!
